Kay Lindsey was born in Yonago City, Japan on October 19, 1928 to Yoshito and Toshi Yada. She was the youngest of five children. Her father was a very successful engineer/architect and many buildings and bridges still bear his name stamp.
Kay went to a business college and moved to Tokyo and went to work at the U.S. Army-Air Force Exchange where she met the love of her life, James W. Lindsey. They were married in May of 1954 at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. They left Japan in 1961 with their two young children, Jim Jr. and Rita, and moved to Taiwan where James Sr. continued his long successful career with the Navy Exchange system. They went on to travel and live in many other different places including the Philippines, Guam, San Francisco, Memphis, San Diego, and finally settled in the beautiful little beach town of Imperial Beach, CA.
Every place they lived was an enjoyable adventure and Kay always made it a loving, happy home. She truly enjoyed all the different experiences that traveling brought to our family. We have so many wonderful memories!
Settling in Imperial Beach brought the next stage of their life which was the arrival of their six grandchildren. A more generous, loving grandmother would be very hard to find! She thoroughly enjoyed being a grandma and would do anything to make everyone as happy as possible. At 92 years of age, Kay was as sharp minded and strong as could be to the very end. She was truly remarkable, highly intelligent, kind, generous and a very loving person.
Kay Lindsey is survived by her two children, Jim Lindsey Jr. (& Marci) and Rita Pethel (& Mel), six grandchildren: Melanie, Carol Kay (& Nicolai), David, Erin, Cody, and Stephen, a great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nephews and nieces. She passed away peacefully and comfortably, surrounded by her loving family.
