Born to Russell and Yvonne McDonald in Castana, Iowa he was one of 5 kids. Lee graduated from Castana High School, attended Simpson College for one year and finished at Iowa State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a Venerable Dean for the Acacia Fraternity at Iowa State and his fraternity brothers always held a close place in Lee’s heart.
After graduating through the ROTC program, Lee went in to the United States Navy and served four years. He was assigned to several ships and toured far and wide, but it was in Coronado, CA where Lee found and married his love, Victoria Clark. After finishing his naval career, Lee and Vickie moved to Rochester, New York, where Lee went to work for Kodak. They lived there for two years when, thank the Lord, they decided it was too cold and moved to San Diego in 1966. Lee took a job at San Diego Gas & Electric and worked there for 29 years. Lee & Vickie travelled the world where they had great food, fine wine and abounding love. His favorite was playing tennis, watching football, and spending time with family.
Lee is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vickie, and his sons Russell, Clinton (Malinda), and Matthew, and his grandchildren, Maggie and Brenna. He is also survived by his brother Michael (Marcy), and sisters, Sharon (Doug) Carlson and Kathleen (Terry) Kuchera.
