Lola LaVerne Wright, 98, of San Diego, died peacefully Monday, February 1, 2016, She was born April 11, 1917, in Jefferson Township, Oklahoma., the daughter of Walter Woolery and Bertha (Black) Woolery. Her family migrated to San Diego in 1935 after the death of her father, She worked at General Dynamics and retired from there after 38 years. She bought a home in Allied Gardens in 1955 and resided there until 2008.
Lola spent her life serving others whether it be family or friends. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth as well as the White Shrine, frequently holding high office. She was predeceased by her second husband Leroy (Jay Jay) Wright, beloved brothers Thomas, Raymond, Othar and Gerald, as well as sisters Lottie (Tippi) Osborn and Winifred (Pearly) Woolery. She is survived by nephews Don (Sharon) Woolery and Barry (Chris) Woolery and niece Kathleen Woolery and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 10, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Roses at Glen Abbey, 3838 Bonita Rd. Bonita, with visitation beginning at 9 AM, prior to the service.
