Luis E. Bernal passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the age of 87 in Chula Vista, CA. He was born in Douglas, Arizona to Alejandro and Antonia Bernal on July 15, 1926. He was the youngest of 8 children.
He served his country for 31 years as a Civil Service worker at both Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino and North Island Naval Base Coronado retiring in January of 1982. He later started a second career working for a few years for the Sweetwater Union High School District.
The balance of his retirement years were spent working around his home, fishing, following his favorite baseball teams and engaging in lively discussions with other old-timers over morning coffee at the local McDonalds.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Hortencia, 7 children, Luis Jr., Adalberto, Rojelio, Raul, Rolando, Cecilia and Letisia. “Tata” will be equally missed by 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren
