On the afternoon of November 8, 2020, peacefully and surrounded by his family, our dear Martin joined our Creator.
Martin Bangayan or better known as “Marz” was born into the beautiful family of Julita Bangayan, his mother, and Sixto Bangayan Sr., his father, on October 15, 1959. He grew up in the Philippines at Olongapo City along with his lively siblings. He had three sisters Evangeline, Minda, Myrna and a brother, Sixto Jr. Although he’s described as a fun and mischievous kid he cared a lot about his family and took the role as the big brother of the household.
He prioritized education early on his life which he would later emphasize the importance of to his children which he would often say “Education is the most important treasure I’m able to provide you when I pass”.
During his young adult life he strived for a better future for himself and his family. He studied Electrical Engineering in Adamson University in Manila. He started his career as an Engineer at Saudi Arabia when he was 21 years old to find better opportunity to provide for his family and to gain better experience for his career. Although his life was dedicated mostly to his family, he still took time to enjoy his youth and making friends along the way. He was a jack of all trades and very competitive of being a better version of himself. Skillful and smart is the best way to describe him.
He met his wife through a colleague which is now his brother in law. He first saw Jocelyn in a picture and fell in love at first sight, he courted Jocelyn from abroad proving that distance didn’t matter. Knowing Marz as a persistent young man, he knew he needed to come back home and meet her. As he tells the story, Jocelyn didn’t let him go when she first saw him. As they get to know each other, their love grew a lot more and knew that they were meant to be together. Sometime after, their love bloomed and then they had their first daughter Maja, he knew he had to come home. And a few years more, Aie and Aia joined their growing family.
Few more years forward, Martin then moved to the US with his family. In addition to his children, his family grew more and he gained 2 sons, Khris Ian which is Maja’s husband and James. Marz was a doting grandfather often enjoyed his free time playing with his 2 grandchildren Marziah and Kara.
Through years of hard work, all his adventures, all the achievements, all the friends he met along the way, he stayed the same – a family man, good provider. He lived a simple life, he enjoys family time, loved his dogs, and loved his tools. Remained busy around the house being a handyman, mechanic, electrician and a grandfather. He was the pride and joy of his family.
