

Marty was born to Joseph and Alma in Standish, MI. He was raised with his five older sisters Lorraine, Donna, Doris, Loretta and June on a farm near AuGres, MI.
Marty joined the US Navy 04/01/1965 at the age of 17. He received the Meritorious Service Metal; Navy Commendation Medal with 2 Gold Stars; Navy Achievement Metal; Navy Commendation with Bronze Star; Meritorious Unit Commendation with Bronze Star; Navy ‘E’ Ribbon; Navy Good Conduct Metal (3rd award); Navy Expeditionary Metal with Bronze Stars; National Defense Service Metal with Bronze Star; Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal; Vietnam Service Metal with four Bronze Stars; Southwest Asia Service Metal with Bronze Star; Humanitarian Service Metal; Sea Service Deployment ribbon with four Bronze Stars; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal; Kuwait Liberation Metal; Marksman pistol & rifle ribbons; Enlisted Surface Warfare Breast Insignia. After 30 years of service, he retired with an honorable discharge. His rank at retirement was Chief Warrant Officer 4.
After two weeks of retirement from the Navy he went to Home Depot for paint and ended up retiring from there, as well.
Marty was proceeded in death by his wife Barbara and is survived by their four children Debra, Valarie, Mark and James; his current wife Stella, grandchildren and great grandchildren, adult stepchildren Susan, Frankie and Michelle and his beloved bird Wilson.
Final resting place will be at both Glenn Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, CA and the National Cemetery in Miramar, CA.
