Born on December 27, 1946, in Balayan, Batangas, Philippines, to Felisa De Los Reyes and Raymundo Ojerio Lopez, Maxima lived a life rooted in faith, love, and dedication. A devout Catholic, she found strength in her beliefs and carried them with her throughout her life. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) with a bachelor’s degree in commercial science, specializing in banking and finance.
She married the love of her life, Elias Paz Alarva, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Throughout her career, Maxima exemplified resilience and adaptability. She worked at Bank of America for two years, followed by seven years at the Post Office and two years at the Sony assembly plant. After developing carpal tunnel syndrome, she transitioned into a new profession as an optician, a role she embraced with dedication. However, years later, she faced one of her greatest challenges—losing her eyesight due to retinal detachment. Despite this hardship, she remained steadfast in her faith and continued to serve others. As a devout Catholic, she was also a Eucharistic minister for several years, sharing her unwavering belief and love for God with her community.
Maxima leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Holden Alarva, Minica Alarva Yuvienco, and Monte Carlo Alarva, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Avanisse Yuvienco, Grayson Yuvienco, Jordan Orion Pacho-Alarva, Isaiah Lennox Pacho-Alarva, Isabella Grace Pacho-Alarva, and Elijah Nicholas Pacho-Segura. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Cleotilde “Edeng” Bautista, Mely Lopez-Encallado, and Tony Lopez.
Remembering Mameng
“To the living, I am gone, and to the sad, I will never return. To the happy, I am at peace, and to the angry, I was cheated. But to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot speak, but I can listen. I cannot be seen, but my presence can be felt. I can no longer lead, but I can walk beside you. So as you stand gazing at a beautiful sunset or the moon in its endless sky, REMEMBER ME. As you look in wonder at the colors of a rose or listen to the song of a bird, REMEMBER ME. REMEMBER ME in your heart, your thoughts, and your memories. Remember the times we loved and the times we fought, the times we laughed and the times we cried, the times we teased and the times we shared. For if you think of me, I will not have died. I have only gone with Jesus.”
