Mrs. Pilar T. Tapnio

Pilar Tapang Tapnio was born October 4, 1931. She was born and raised in Angeles City, Philippines. Her mother’s name is Anastacia Pineda and her father’s name is Emiliano Tapang. She had one sister named Laureana Tapang Paguio and two brothers, Jose Tapang and Aurelio Tapang. She was the third among four children.

She was married to Jose Laczon Tapnio on January 14, 1953 at Angeles City, Pampanga. They were blessed with 10 beautiful children, 6 girls and 4 boys. The eldest among the 10 children is Tarcila, followed by Teresa, then Trinidad, Luisa, June, Javier, Julita, Lutgardo, Laurente and the youngest, Laura. She now has 28 grandchildren.

She was a loyal member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and Damayan Club Philippines and USA.

Pilar is a very kind, loving and caring wife and mother. She always thinks about the well being of her children before herself. With her unconditional love and God’s guidance, Pilar and Jose (very well known as Pepe and Pilar) were able to successfully raise their 10 children who are now mostly married with family of their own.

Pilar is an extra ordinary cook, very particular and detailed like a real Chef. Everyone who has tried her cooking can attest to how a great cook she was. Pilar loves to sing and among her favorites are “No Other Love” (her song for her husband),” “May Bukas Pa” and “Iisa Pa Lamang”. She was a very humble person. She often says that money and material things don’t matter, it’s the things that you do for your family and others in God’s name that matters. She is also forgiving, even if somebody does her wrong and that person needed help, she will help in any way she can. She is also kind hearted and giving.

Survived by her husband, Jose Tapnio and her 10 children, Tarcila, Teresa, Trinidad, Luisa, June, Javier, Julita, Lutgardo, Laurente and Laura.

Pilar passed away on February 5, 2011 at Scripps Mercy Chula Vista. Memorial service is on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Glen Abbey Chapel, 2:00 pm. Her final resting place will be at Holy Mary Memorial Park in Angeles City, Philippines.
