Ralph was a long time member of St. Dunstan’s and a generous donor. He was active in Crusillo and Marriage Encounter. He was a participant in the Wednesday morning prayer group. He loved St Dunstan’s. Even when he and Dottie lived in Georgetown, and were active at Our Savior in Placerville, he always felt St. Dunstan’s was his spiritual home.
He grew up in Grant Park, Illinois. After fighting in the Pacific in the Army infantry, where he was awarded the Silver Star and a Purple Heart, he settled in San Diego. One day in 1946 he pointed out a girl to a friend and said, “I’m going to marry her” but admitted they had not yet met. He screwed up his courage and asked her out. On their first date he proposed - and she accepted. He married Dorothy Strong six weeks later. They raised four children and enjoyed life together for over 60 years.
Ralph's life was centered on his faith and his family. He enjoyed family, friends, and laughing. He is survived by his four children: Steve, Gary, Jan and Tom, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
