Ricardo Columna Morga was born in General Trias, Cavite, Philippines. Ricardo proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 – 1967. His naval career spanned WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retirement from active duty, Ricardo attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer while in the Naval Reserve.
Ricardo (Candong) married Rosalina (Aling) Viniegra Poblete in 1947 and has been a Widower since 2009.
He is survived by his sons Ricardo Columna Morga, Jr. and Erwin Poblete Morga. He had four grandsons: Sean-Patrick Poblete Morga, Niall Shane Morga, Joe Reilly Morga and Aust’n Nohea Sione Morga ane one granddaughter Evangeine Vera Aolani Rosalina Morga. He also had two great grandchildren: Evan Patrick Poikkeus (Morga) and Emerald Reilly Morga.
Following his career in the Navy, Ricardo went back to school and received his High School Diploma at Montgomery High School which his two sons also attended. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Southwestern College. Ricardo worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired from there also.
Ricardo began running for his health in his late 50’s and continued through his 70’s. He loved to run! He ran until his knees could no longer support it.
He was a loving husband to his wife of 62 years and a loving father to his two sons. Ricardo loved being with his grandchildren as much as his grandchildren loved to be with him! He will be missed.
