

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Roberto Devera Alfante was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Roberto will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Roberto’s life journey began on March 12, 1957. He first greeted the world in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Philippines. His parents' names were Simeon Alfante and Ruperta Devera. He was raised in Pangasinan with seven siblings, Salvacion, Delia, Ramon, Orlando, Lorna, Carol and Pacita. Roberto was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his family sharing many special life experiences over the years.
Roberto was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making the critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from high school and later continued his education by attending the University of Manila in Sampaloc Metro Manila where he earned his degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1978.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Roberto experienced that with his sweetheart, Mira Angela Delinila Loada and the couple exchanged wedding vows on June 28, 1987. The wedding took place in Reno, Nevada. Empathic and loyal, Roberto was committed to making his new life with Mira a happy and fulfilling one.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Roberto enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Roberto worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. Roberto worked at the Military Sealift Command under the Department of the U.S. Navy as Second Cook for thirteen years.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Roberto enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including cooking, singing karaoke, eating out, traveling and collecting shot glasses from every location he traveled to. He was always happy and willing to share his interests with others.
Roberto had many great qualities, including having a wonderful personality and character. He was loving, very kind, hard working and hospitable. He was a great provider not only for his wife, but to all his loved ones. He had a grand vision for the future. His greatest accomplishment was the immense love that he manifested in so many different ways but the greatest of all was his acceptance for Jehovah.
Roberto Alfante left us on June 27, 2011. He passed away at Kaiser San Diego Medical Hospital after fighting a brave battle against lung cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife Mira; his mother Ruperta; his brothers and sisters as well as his nephews and nieces. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary on July 2, 2011 and July 3, 2011. Roberto was laid to rest at Eterna Memorial Park in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Philippines.
Simply stated, Roberto was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Roberto leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Roberto Devera Alfante touched will always remember him with a smile.
