

Rufina Abrigo Aquino, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on December 17, 2014, at the age of 98. She was born on July 30, 1916, in Amungan, Iba, Zambales, Philippines to Isidoro and Maria Abrigo.
Rufina lived a fulfilling life. She was a grade school teacher at the Bancal Elementary School where she taught, inspired, and motivated students to succeed. In 1977, after forty years, Rufina retired from the profession that she loved. In 1983, she and husband Jose moved to San Diego, California where they both enjoyed their time together traveling, gardening, continuously learning, and spending time with loved ones. Rufina firmly believed in the importance of family, unconditional love, and happiness.
Rufina is predeceased by her husband Jose of 63 years, her parents, brother Laureano, nephew Jim, and niece Carol. She is survived by her five children- Eddie (Ellie), Benny (Mercy), Ely (Dina), Josefina, and Thelma (Ben). She is also survived by her nephews Victor (Belen), Robert (Betty), Manny (Nanette), nieces Evelyn, Lillian (Frank), and Kathy (Wayne), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26th from 5-9 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary- Chapel of Roses, 3838 Bonita Rd., Bonita, CA 91902. On Saturday, December 27, 2014, a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 426 E. Seventh Street, National City, CA 91950 at 9:00 a.m., followed by interment at Glen Abbey.
