

Senando S. Liwanag was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew his best, Senando will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Senando was born on November 6, 1927 in Cavite City, Philippines, the son of Dolores Santos Liwanag and Rufino Liwanag. Senando was raised in Cavite City, Philippines with nine siblings, three sisters Filipina Liwanag Basa, Lydia Liwanag Raquel and Nenita Liwanag Valecruz, and six brothers, 0scar Liwanag, Claro Liwanag, Rufino Liwanag Jr., Jaime Liwanag, Armando Liwanag and Ruben Liwanag. Senando was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings and they shared many life experiences over the years.
On November 19, 1951, Senando exchanged wedding vows with Erlinda Nicolas Verceles at City Hall, in Cavite City, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Senando was committed to making his new family happy. While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Senando was blessed with eight children, two daughters, Elenita V. Liwanag and Jonicia V. Liwanag, and six sons, Augusto V. Liwanag, Manuel V. Liwanag, Roque V. Liwanag, Senando V. Liwanag Jr., Alwin V. Liwanag and Neil V. Liwanag (Deceased). Senando worked hard to be a good Father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Another blessing for Senando was the gift of eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Senando enjoyed what he did for a living. From 1954 to 1971 his primary occupation was Bartender/Manager at the US Naval Base Sangley Point Officers Club. From 1974 to 1977 Senando worked as Bartender/Manager at the US Naval Subic Bay Officers Club. He also worked from 1977 to 1982 as a Food and Beverages Manager at the Covelandia Resort, Cavite City, Philippines. Showing a strong work ethic, Senando worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career.
Senando enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite was fishing. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Senando passed away on February 28, 2015 in San Diego, California. He is survived by His wife Erlinda V. Liwanag, his daughters Elenita and Jonica, and his sons Augusto, Manuel, Roque, Senando Jr. and Alwin.
Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. Visitations were held at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel, Bonita, California on Monday March 9, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday March 10, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service was held at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Bonita, California on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:00 AM and was officiated by Reverend Oliver Rae Liwanag Barrios. Senando S. Liwanag’s Final Resting Place is Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Senando was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Senando leaves behind the legacy of a loving family, life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember him.
