

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Teodoro A. Devera Sr. was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Teodoro will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Teodoro’s life journey began on April 1, 1931. He first greeted the world in Ternate, Cavite, Philippines. His parents' names were Osmundo and Amparo Devera. Growing up for Teodoro was an involving experience. It allowed him to learn and grow and create all kinds of memories.
A lot of what shaped Teodoro’s life was how he was raised. He was raised with eight siblings named Maganda, George, Sergio, Victoria, Osmundo Jr., Soliman, Vicente and Luminada. He and his siblings experienced the typical rivalries of a growing family, but they shared many special life experiences over the years.
Teodoro attended and graduated from Cosmopolitan College in Manila, Philippines in 1951. He later attended Feati University where he earned his 2nd year BSCE in 1953.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Teodoro experienced that with Angelina Madrigal. Teodoro exchanged wedding vows with Angelina on October 18, 1953 in Ternate, Cavite, Philippines. Through empathy and devotion, Teodoro and Angelina shared many happy years of marriage.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Teodoro worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Teodoro was blessed with nine children, Emelie, Ronilo, Cesar, Teodoro Jr., Leonel, Rodel, Elena, Alan and Lowie. He supported all of his children from the day they were born, through school and until the day they were adults with their own families. He was an excellent leader and mentor to his family. He worked hard toward raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Teodoro enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Teodoro worked diligently and did his best to succeed in each of his jobs. While he worked several jobs over his life, Teodoro’s primary occupation was working as an MWR greens keeper. He worked in the industry from 1987-1997. Teodoro also worked as a Greyhound Canteen Attendant from 1985- 1987, a Matel Machine Operator in 1985, Saudi Arabia Carpenter from 1980- 1982, and Vietnam Pacific Architect Forman Construction from 1963- 1964.
Teodoro Devera Sr. left us on March 19, 2011. He passed away at Paradise Valley Hospital in San Diego, California. The cause of his death was pneumonia. He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends. A Funeral Mass was held for Teodoro at St. Michael Catholic Church on March 28, 2011. Teodoro was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Teodoro was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Teodoro leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Teodoro A. Devera Sr. touched will always remember him with a smile.
