Wanda was born in 1925 in Newton, Illinois to wonderful parents in a home full of love. She had four brothers, a pet goat (Betsy), and two pet pigs. She grew up during the Great Depression and although her family didn’t have much, they were very happy. She attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from high school in May of 1944 when World War II affected all their lives.
Wanda met her future husband Dale while they were both riding on the back of separate motorcycles. He reached out and took her hand while driving down the road and she said she knew he was the one she wanted to marry. They were married for 54 years. They were a Navy family for 26 years and moved frequently.
Wanda lived in the same house in Chula Vista for 51 years and had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren (with another on the way), and 1 great-great grandchild.
Wanda and Dale were very involved with the Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shriners and developed many wonderful friendships through these organizations. Wanda loved her family and friends dearly.
Wanda Anita Phillips, age 97, of Chula Vista, California passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022. Wanda was born in Newton, Illinois.
