Beatrice Barron passed away at her residence on December 5, 2023, at the age of 100. She was born Nov 4, 1923, to parents G. E. (Elbert) and Katie Hancock in Hightown in Alcorn County, MS. She worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing for 24 years before working with her husband at their grocery store, Barron’s Grocery, which they operated for 42 years. She was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always had a smile and enjoyed life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Ruel; her daughter, Myra Barron Rainey; her parents; her brothers, Willie, Buford, and Howard Hancock; and her beloved cat, Sheeka.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Barron of Madison, AL; her granddaughters, Ferrin Rainey-Calvert (Keith) of Iuka, MS and Carlynn Rainey-Crawford (Jeff) of Spring, TX; her sisters, Vera Donahue of Rienzi, MS and Mary Jewel Wicks of Corinth, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special appreciation to Legacy Hospice for the special care and attention provided as well as her caregivers Mary Bennett, Dee Whirley, Michelle Floyd and Sheila Crawford.
Visitation will be held December 8, 2023, from 11 a.m. until service time, at McMillan Funeral Home. The service will follow in the Chapel at 1 p.m. with Doug Greenway and Jim Estes officiating. Burial will be at Booneville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Perry Hancock, James Donahue, Johnny Donahue, Brian Donahue, Ronnie Donahue, and Billy Joe Hancock.
