Daris (Doris) Annette Pounds Watson, 88, passed away on November 16, 2022, in Memphis, TN. She was born July 19, 1934, in the Cotton Springs Community of Tishomingo County, Mississippi, to Joseph Dewey Pounds and Bessie Lee Phillips Pounds. Doris attended Cotton Springs, New Site, and Hills Chapel Elementary School and graduated from Booneville High School. She attended Freed Hardeman College (now University) where she started her career working for W.A. Bradfield as a secretary. Later she worked in the registrar office at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, MS, and she finished her career at the University of Memphis working in the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economic Research. Doris was also an Avon Representative for over 50 years with many loyal customers. She was a member of White Station Church of Christ and also attended Woodland Hills Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and one sister.
She is survived by one sister, Wilma Barfield, two sons, Bob (Kim) Watson, and Dr. Joseph (Joey) Watson, one daughter, Sherry (Clyde) Overmier and four grandchildren.
McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville, MS, is entrusted with arrangements. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Booneville Cemetery.
