Jeannette " Nett " Stevens

Miriam Jeanette “Nett” Gattis Stevens, 82, was born January 14, 1935 to T.T. and Mary Esther Gattis and passed away, February 24, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 63 years, Branard Stevens ; four children, Keith Stevens (Karen) of Rienzi, Regina (Don) Preston of Lynchburg, TN, Kevin Stevens and Kendall Stevens both of Booneville. She was loved by four grandchildren, Jody Preston, Karrie Beth Stevens, Leah Stevens and Lainey Stevens and one great-grandchild, Josi Preston. These children were the light of her life, where she spent many years spoiling and loving them unconditionally.

After moving around as a child, Nett moved back to North Mississippi where she lived with her grandmother and graduated from Rienzi School. Nett and Branard ended up residing in the Altitude community to raise their family. She was a member of the Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Nana, as her grandkids called her spent her life taking care of others, cooking, canning, and being opinionated. Her favorite part of the day was cooking a huge breakfast for whoever decided to show up. Nana loved to talk and share stories of her past. You could always count on her to tell it like it was. Nana and Papa’s house will always be the center of our family, and Nana will always be our heartbeat.

A celebration of life service will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 26, 2017, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Blakney officiating. Burial will be in the Jacinto Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Jerry Wilemon, Bud Sims, David Sims, Jody Preston, Larry Gattis and Bob Maddox.

Visitation will Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
