

Sharon Kay Coats, 62, of Booneville, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Booneville. She was a member of Oak Ridge Church of Christ. She retired from the Prentiss County School System after 33 years of teaching, where she taught the last 27 years at Thrasher Elementary School. She was a former member of the Mississippi Education Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She graduated from NEMJC with an Associate degree, received her BS from MUW, followed by her Masters degree from the University of Mississippi. She was a singer with the Mellotones and a vocalist & keyboard player with Kennedy International.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Scott Baggett and Minister Doug Greenway officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Church of Christ Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Thomas Coats; 2 sons, William Thomas Coats II and Samuel Keith “Sambo” Coats, both of Booneville; Honorary daughter, Lola Johnson (Mark) Williams of Pratts; 2 brothers, Wayne and Larry Green both of Booneville; and a honorary granddaughter, Jordan Eve Williams of Pratts.
She is preceded in death by, her parents, Orbrey and Roxie Green and 1 brother, Jackie Monroe Chapman.
Visitation will be from 4-9 pm on Monday, December 6, 2010 at McMillan Funeral Home and until service time on Tuesday.
