Thank you all for being here today and also those of you who are not here but are sharing in this service for Estella P Christian, MD at the Waterman-Langone Funeral Home in Boston Mass. Also thank you for your concern and support for Estella during her illness.
We all love Estella and miss her now that she has passed on especially myself. In Estella for the first time in my life I had an intimate partner and I learned to be more sociable. Estella was loving and kind and had a deep concern for other people. She was also very generous. Her family was very important to her. I was blessed in many ways by Estella. One of the most important blessings was that I could now have all of you as my relatives through her which is important to me coming from a family with very few relatives.
Estella was a strong person. When she and I went to Saipan it was at that time considered a medically underserved country. The hospital was a series of corrugated iron roofed buildings. Estella was an excellent physician and anesthesiologist and became the chief anesthesiologist of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
A lot of people have been praying for Estella and thank you for your prayers. We have a variety of religions and denominations but perhaps what is most important is the love and concern of the one who prays. Thank you for your love and concern for Estella and we look forward to meeting her again when we also pass on. May God bless us all. Amen.
A number of you have generously donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute which works to develop new and more effective drugs and treatments to attack cancer which took Estella away from us. To do this patients are needed to volunteer to participate in research studies and Estella participated in study number 19-217. The drug chosen by her oncologist offered the best hope of success but by agreeing to participate in the study Estella in a very real sense gave her life in the battle to defeat cancer which in medicine is our worst enemy.
I want to thank minister Terri Bracy and especially Dino among the great staff at
Waterman-Langone. What we could do today was limited by the circumstances but keep Estella in your hearts and we will have a great memorial service for her at some future time.
George Christian, MD (husband)
