BaBa,
It is coming up on a year since you passed.  It has been hard, and you are greatly missed. But I want you to know that this has not changed -You were, you are, and you will always be loved.

Dear Aunt Jeannie and Family,

If I had to choose one word that best described Uncle David, it would be "vibrant".  He was cheerful and exciting to be with.  He liked to do things, go places, interact with people, read up on current events.  He was a person that celebrated life and that's how I think he would like to be remembered.

He loved to tell stories. He would tell us about his exciting journey to America and his early stay in Philadelphia. He would describe events with great detail and clarity involving family and family friends- some events of which I wasn't fully aware of.  It was a good history lesson that is meaningful and precious.  He remembered his roots and he wanted us to connect with ours.

My mom would converse with Uncle David on a regular basis to hear the excitement of the day - family, grandchildren, casinos, day at the beach, buffets, bus trips, school events, etc.  The sound of Uncle David's voice on the telephone would bring her joy.  His joyful spirit, kind demeanor, happiness and laughter will live strong in our hearts.

May the beauty of Uncle David's life shine forever, and may God bless your family.

Jeannie and Family,

Our brother and uncle, your husband and father, fought his illness with the same vigor as he lived his life, with great grace, humility and courage and did it his way.   We will miss him greatly. Ever since I was a little kid up until now, Uncle David was always happy to see me.  He always welcomed me with open arms, saying my Chinese name loudly and proudly, and I always felt comfortable being around him.  He always had a sense of humor, and never took things in life too seriously.  He will be missed!  Here is a photo of David from his last trip in SF a few years ago:
