unexpectedly in a car accident on October 1, 2021. He was born to Michael Degan of Sandwich
and Michelle Degan (Degon-Rinaldi) of Bourne, on November 19, 2002, in Wareham.
Andrew grew up in Sandwich. In 2021, he graduated from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical
High School (UCT) and was recognized with the Top Shop honors/scholarship in HVAC.
Andrew began working for the Riedell Company through a UCT cooperative program during his junior year. At age 16, his tall and skinny frame earned him the moniker “Noodles” from the crew. However, when he joined the company upon graduation, it was his unmatched work ethic, skill, and maturity that his colleagues noticed. He loved the challenge of figuring out how things worked and how to fix them when they were broken - and would not quit until he had done both.
He was determined, persistent, relentless.
Andrew also had an insatiable curiosity. If it grabbed his attention, it deserved serious
exploration. He would devote all his considerable energy to fully mastering the material or skill, from bullfighting to stock day-trading. With daily practice, he taught himself to suture with a kit he bought on Amazon. His gifts to his girlfriend were always homemade. Andrew never stopped questioning, learning, and growing and he expected the same from others. He never gave up on himself, or on the people he loved, though was sometimes frustrated that others could not keep up with how quickly his mind worked.
The people he loved were the whole of his life. He was happiest when he was with family – his responsibility and his joy. Sunday dinners were his favorite. He reveled in the happy moments and was steadfast in providing support and comfort when things were rough. He spoke his truth and he knew how to listen. Wherever he went, he took “keepsakes” that reminded him of his connection to others. He left love notes.

Andrew, charming, smart, sweet, loving, playful, gritty, loyal, irreverent, ridiculous and kind.
Andrew, everyone’s favorite.
We could not wait to see what he would become, but we knew who he was. He brought laughter and light. And in his leaving, our lives will never be as full.
He is survived by his loving parents; his brothers William Degon-Rinaldi and Numcha Degon- Rinaldi (Pimlada) of Mansfield; Daniel Degan and Kaela Amaral of Buzzard’s Bay; Timothy Degan of Sandwich; his girlfriend Haley Bowman of Buzzard’s Bay; his grandparents Sharron Rinaldi (Degon) of Sandwich; Donald Degan of Bourne and his partner Lyse Poulin of Sandwich; and the late Francis Degan (Bernabei) of Bourne and James Rinaldi of Sandwich.
Andrew is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and friends who loved him dearly – none more so than his best friends Paul “Tiger” Wright and Kyle Allen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October 8th at St. Margaret's Parish, 101 Main St. Buzzards Bay, at 12 noon. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday October 7th from 4-8PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA. Burial will be private.
The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Richard “Dickie” Mohre, Carl “Guy”
Riedell, and the entire Riedell Company for their overwhelming generosity, support, and
kindness throughout this difficult period. Andrew was truly blessed to have had their mentorship and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Andrew’s name, to a scholarship fund being
established at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School at 220 Sandwich Rd, Bourne, MA 02532.
