
David "Jake" Jacobson, age 64, died on September 8, 2014 after a year long battle with cancer. He passed away in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Brockton, MA on November 29, 1950, he was the son of the late Carl Gunner Abner Jacobson and Arlene Mae Jacobson. He was known for his kind heart and his dedication to making a difference in the lives of so many people.
Jake was an avid sports fan, especially hockey; both to play and watch. Jake started the Mashpee Booster's Club, he played an instrumental role in starting the Cape Cod Women's Hockey League and was President of the Mashpee Little League Association. He also was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard and served for 21 years and was employed as an environmental manager at Camp Edwards. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his children and grandchildren. He also loved spending time fishing on the A2JR with his wife in their free time.
Jake was the beloved husband of Elaine Jacobson of Mashpee. He was a devoted father to; Todd Jacobson of Bridgewater, Janice Burbank of Hanson, and Nicholas Jacobson of Mashpee. Jake was the cherished grandfather of Albert Burbank, Alex Burbank, Jessica Jacobson and Saige Jacobson. Jake also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Laurie Jacobson of Bridgewater and brother, Robert Jacobson of Oregon.
Jake will forever be remembered and loved, not only by his family, but by everyone who met him. He will remain irreplaceable in all of our hearts.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday September 11, 2014 from 4 to 7 Pm at the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne. A graveside service will be held Friday September 12, 2014 at 10:15 am at the MA National Cemetery at 10:15 am with Military Honors.
