Goodnow, Henry “Skip” Earl Jr, loving husband, brother, uncle, passed away peacefully Friday February 16, 2018, after a long illness. Skip was born in Middleboro, MA, to Henry Sr. And Mary (Vaughn) Goodnow. A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, Skip lived in Bourne with his wife Sherie Ridley. After graduating from Middleboro High School, Skip, enlisted in the United States Army where he served with honor and distinction earning 4 Bronze Stars. Following his years in the military Skip worked for Barnes Tree Service, Central Glass, H&S Marine and for a period of time as an Auxiliary Police officer in Middleboro, Massachusetts. A proud member of the Freemasons, Skip was happiest amongst friends while helping others. Eventually Skip’s love of all things mechanical and the sea led him to a career as a Bosun with Massachusetts Maritime Academy until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Sherie Ridley. He is also survived by his two loving sisters Paula “Penny” Ricker, Louise “Weeza” Goodnow- Albert, and her husband Charlie, and brother-in-law Victor Stoddard. He was the proud uncle to six loving nieces and nephews: Kevin, Wendy, Troy, Greg, Mark, and Saundra; and was predeceased by his sister Loraine “Rainy” Goodnow Stoddard and brother-in-law Robert Ricker.
His Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at noon. Visitation prior to service 11 am to 12 noon at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
