

James D. O’Grady, 86 of Norton, formerly of Bourne and Irvington, NY died June 14, 2011 at Epoch of Norton. Born in Ireland, he was the son of the late William and Molly (Cunningham) O’Grady. He came to the United States in 1933 and settled in Cornwall, NY. He was a US Navy veteran. Employed as a lab technician for Phillips Laboratories in Irvington, NY , he retired in 1990. He loved playing golf and was a member of the New York Beekman Country Club. He and his wife enjoyed attending the opera and touring the States. He moved to Cape Cod in 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife Cornelius “Connie” in 2003.
He is survived by his brother John P. and his wife Kathleen O’Grady of Bourne and four nieces and nephews: Mary Clare Hovermale, Sean O’Grady, Maura Ledbetter, Thomas O’Grady and five great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Monday at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Shore Rd., Pocasset. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
