He is survived by his two children, Michael Brunetto of New Bedford, MA, and Allison Brunetto of Plymouth, MA, his daughter-in-law Brooke Brunetto of New Bedford, MA, granddaughter and best friend Hazel Brunetto of New Bedford, MA, as well as his sister Patricia, brother Paul, and lifelong family friend Sandra Dickinson.
Following 26 years serving in the Navy, Skip retired and turned his mechanical aptitude, curiosity and natural ability to fix just about anything he came across. From screen printing, painting, studying American Sign Language at Cape Cod Community College, and carpentry, his attention to detail was one of his best talents. It wasn’t uncommon to find Skip fixing something around the house, repairing a snowblower out by the shed, or helping out a neighbor in need.
But for all of his mechanical ability, it was his talent at being a grandfather that turned out to be his greatest. Being Grampy was his favorite job of all, and anyone that visited him at the house over the last 7 years was likely to find Hazel close by, and if you even asked about her he would light up and break out his phone to show pictures.
He will be greatly missed by all of us. As much as it hurts, we know that he is with his best friend and greatest love, Maureen.
“Fair Winds and Following Seas.”
A military service at the National Cemetery in Bourne will be announced in the Spring.
