Joseph Eugene Cherry

Joseph E Cherry, 73, passed away peacefully Friday June 10, 2011 surrounded by loved ones at home. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Nancy (Abercrombie) Cherry and their daughter Robin Cherry. Born in Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles & Jessie (Shipley) Cherry. He is predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his sister Mary Jane (Cherry) Chrisman of Ohio. Joseph spent 8 years in the United States Air Force and was a 32 year member of the American Legion Post 188. He served many happy times during healthier years working the various clambakes and had served on the Scholarship Committee. He was a retiree of Verizon and had been a resident of the Cape since 1963. He loved the ocean, his family, friends and a good laugh. His happiest moments were spent with his family. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered the most as a good husband and a great father. A memorial service will be held at Corpus Christi Church on June 15th, 2011 at 10:30 am.
