Mary M. Roux, age 60, of Cataumet, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2026. Born on February 17, 1966, at Toby Hospital in Wareham, Massachusetts, Mary lived a life marked by deep love, unwavering faith, and a warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Mary graduated from Bourne High School in 1984 before going to Stonehill College where she earned a BA in liberal arts. She married the love of her life, James Roux on July 14, 1990. Mary taught at St. Margarets School in Buzzards Bay under the supervision of her father, principal Charles (Chuck) Lindberg for many years, and has worked since for Associates of Cape since 2016.
Mary was a woman whose loving heart defined her in every way. Those who knew her understood that her caring presence could brighten even the most difficult of days, and her embrace, by all accounts, was one of the finest gifts she offered the world. She was, quite simply, a great hugger, and she never hesitated to share that comfort with family, friends, and anyone in need.
Mary possessed a lively spirit and a curious mind. She was an avid college football fan, bringing her characteristic enthusiasm and energy to every game she followed. She also loved thoughtful, educational travel, always seeking to deepen her understanding of the world and its people through meaningful journeys near and far.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, James C. Roux; her beloved daughter, Abigail C. Ruta and her husband, Kurt; her loving mother, Alyce Lindberg; her three cherished brothers, Daniel, Charles, and Gregory Lindberg; and several adoring nieces and nephews. Mary is the daughter of the late Charles Lindberg.
Her Christian faith was the foundation upon which Mary built her life. A devout member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in North Falmouth, Massachusetts, she served faithfully as both a cantor and a Eucharistic Minister, offering her voice and her service to her parish community with joy and reverence. Her deep relationship with God was not merely practiced on Sundays; it was woven into every act of kindness, every warm word, and every loving embrace she shared throughout her life. May she now rest peacefully in the eternal arms of her Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be held on May 29, 2026, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, MacArthur Boulevard, Bourne, Massachusetts, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in North Falmouth at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
In lieu of flowers consider donating to Saint Jude Children's Hospital Research Center Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital, two of Mary's favorite charities.
In Mary's memory, we are reminded of words she held dear: "I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom, for me and for you. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world."
