Patrice Marguerite Genchauskas, 64, of Bourne, Massachusetts, passed away on September 14, 2025, surrounded by those she loved. She battled Stage 4 Lung cancer, which she faced with courage and grace.
Born in Boston to the late Louis A. Nephew and Jeanette C. (Bishop) Nephew, Patrice was raised in a large, close knit family, a foundation which shaped the love and dedication she carried into every relationship she formed. Her devotion to family was at the heart of all she did.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, (together for 38) Steven J. Genchauskas of Bourne; her daughters Melissa Fisher of Bourne, Nicole Escobar and her husband Robert of Taunton, and step daughter Jessica Rose Perry of San Diego, California; and her beloved seven grandchildren—Ashley, Nathan, Sarah, Emily, Alex, Alia, and Sadie—who brought her immeasurable joy.
A year ago, Patrice had a successful heart transplant, which she approached with hope and faith.
Patrice also devoted time to her community. She volunteered with Toys for Tots, and taught Faith Formation at St. Margaret of Scotland Church for 11 years, sharing her faith and kindness with many. She was also a dedicated volunteer at her grandchildren's school, always eager to lend a hand and support their educational journey.
She cherished simple pleasures: spending Saturdays with her family having birthdays and cookouts, often followed by a spirited game of Rummoli, and going to Foxwoods to play Bingo, where good company and laughter always attended. Another tradition she looked forward to each year was her giant birthday lobster, a gift from Steven that never failed to delight her.
Patrice was one of seven siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Mary Nephew-Torres (Florida), Michael Nephew of Fall River, Louie Nephew and his wife Kathie of Lakeville, and Joseph Nephew and late wife Dale of Nova Scotia. She joins in heaven her late brother Paul, sister Susan, and, of course, her parents.
Known for her kindness, her steady love, her quick laughter, and her unshakable strength, Patrice always placed family first. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and the simple but powerful way she showed up for others. Her memory will live on through the smiles she gave, the love she shared, and the lives she touched.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA 02532.
