Stephen Joel Burg

He is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughters, Sandra Herod, Lisa Anderson, and Rachel Brummond; his grandchildren Amanda Hernandez, Olivia Anderson, Michael Anderson, Katie LeWare, Makayla Burg; his great-grandchildren Alexandria, Connor, Julius; and his brothers Jerald Burg and Robert Burg.

Stephen’s life revolved around law enforcement, fire, and boating. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard as a Damage Controlman and then into Law Enforcement as a Patrol Officer with Quincy PD. He maintained USCG Reserve status and enrolled in Northeastern University to pursue a degree. He was also an avid SCUBA diver and small plane pilot and used the skill in both police work as well as pleasure.

Stephen also was a true “SPARKY” from early on hanging out at the local fire house, monitoring fire calls and riding his bike through town to catch up to the firemen on location. This passion and hobby carried on throughout his life.

Stephen moved to Alaska and joined Anchorage PD. He worked in the training department with new recruits, with the K9 Unit and did what he loved as a street Sergeant.

Stephen also worked for USCG Reserve and Alaska Air National Guard. He retired from both Anchorage PD and the military and decided he wasn’t done.

As a retiree Stephen pursued his love of boating. He achieved his 1600T Master (Upon Oceans) license and he plied the waters of the Gulf of Mexico for various oil companies driving the supply boats or divers out to oil platforms.

Stephen will be greatly missed by us all and we hold him in our hearts knowing that he is at peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Connery Ave. Bourne, MA at 12:45 p.m.
