Following a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Cancer, Timothy Blair Crowninshield, aged sixty-six, passed away peacefully at Falmouth Hospital Tuesday, February 11, 2025. A longtime member of the American Eskimo Facebook group, and lover of all things “Eskie,” Tim was considered to be the heart of this group of nearly eight thousand strong and regaled them with stories and experiences that united so many, even though most had not ever met him in person. He was preceded in death by his beloved Spartacus, the original crab-stomper and long-time companion and service dog. The Eskimo group drove 15 hours to gift Tim with an Eskie puppy, whom he named Crixus (Spartacus’s second in command), nine years ago. Crixus was able to visit Tim in the Hospital and was with him and able to say goodbye.
Tim was an Agrostologist, a talented journalist, gifted photographer, lover of the Beatles, adventurer, amazing brother, friend, and uncle. He had a love of family so strong that no amount of difficulty could ever pierce the love he felt for them. Tim and his brothers will forever be synonymous with the song, “Mac the Knife.,” which makes us all smile just thinking about it.
Tim is survived by his beloved best friend and service dog Crixus, or “Crixie Dog,” Sister Martha Crowninshield O’Brien, her husband Lawrence, and their children Christopher Crowninshield, his wife Georgia, and their children Robert and Zoey. Savannah Creswell, her husband Andrew, and their daughters Sofia and Zelia, Benjamin O’Brien, his wife Alexandria, and Jackson O’Brien.
Beloved brothers Shawn Crowninshield (Marcia), Patrick Crowninshield (Laurie), and John Crowninshield (Ruth).
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Robert Blair Crowninshield and Virginia (Ripley) Crowninshield, of Sandwich and Taunton, Massachusetts.
One of the most beautiful and fulfilling experiences Tim often talked about was learning he had a son and connecting with him. He was grateful to be able to meet and spend some extraordinary time with Brandon, his wife Christine and his beautiful granddaughters Ellie and Tati Machado.
A Military Brat, and Veteran, Tim lived in Alabama, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey Pennsylvania, and Taiwan, to name just a few of his numerous adventures including, but not limited to, spear fishing in Hawaii, climbing waterfalls, West Point Military Prep, and championing causes of all kinds throughout his Life. He was from everywhere he ever lived and from nowhere in particular. He would want to thank everyone who spent even one moment in conversation and connection, for he cherished every moment.
Future plans for a Memorial Service in the summer will be announced at a later date. Donations toward American Eskimo Rescue efforts or Parkinson’s Disease and ALS research are suggested, per his wishes.
Tim would want everyone to keep living their lives to the fullest, and he would ask that you not be sad, as he promises that he is not. He would want you to laugh so hard that it hurts in a good way. He has been reunited with our parents and the Mighty Spartacus. Please continue telling the stories, spend time with your families, heal family discord and check in on each other, find a way to forgive one other, and live your best life. “a hui hou kakou.”
