Bernard Lyle Meier was born to Edward Willard Meier and Ethel Mildred Schlam, on August 5, 1930 in Steelmanville, New Jersey. He graduated from Greenbelt High School in 1948 and received a Masters Plumber’s License in 1957. He married Shirley Stinchcomb in 1955 and they lived together in Greenbelt, then Berwyn Heights, MD. They moved to Bowie, MD in 1968. Together they raised three children.
He leaves behind as his legacy, 3 children: Lyle Meier (Catherine), Kelly Rhoads (Chip), and Arley Meier (Gina), as well as 6 grandchildren: Mitch, Rebekah, Stephen, Alicia, Nathaniel, and Ellen.
He was preceded in death by Katie Reda, his granddaughter.
Barney was a Master Plumber, Gasfitter and Builder, until he retired in 1990. Barney’s passion was hunting, which he shared with his sons.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, and on Friday, June 8, from 10AM to 11AM, with services to begin at 11AM in the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home – 16000 Annapolis Road Bowie, MD. Pastor Moses Sangha, will be officiating the ceremony. Burial will be at First Lutheran Church, 12710 Duckettown Rd, Laurel, MD.
