May 20, 1943 – June 6, 2025
Carleton “Carl” Edward Kehoe, 82, of Odenton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, just days after the loss of his beloved wife of 47 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Kehoe, who passed on May 31. Their life together was a testament to enduring love, mutual support, and shared adventure across continents.
Born on May 20, 1943, in Syracuse, New York, Carl lived a life of integrity, intellect, and quiet strength. He served in the United States Navy, where he learned Russian and spent time stationed in Japan—an experience that shaped his worldview and ultimately led to his career with the National Security Agency. It was while stationed in Germany with the NSA that Carl met Kathy, beginning a love story that would span nearly five decades and include three wedding ceremonies: in Basel, Switzerland, in Germany, and later in the United States.
Carl and Kathy shared a passion for traveling, especially cruising, and filled their years with memorable journeys across the world. Together, they also devoted themselves to genealogy, meticulously tracing their family roots and forming lasting connections with relatives and new friends alike through their research.
Carl shared a close bond with his son, Brian, built on a love of both sports and storytelling. They were loyal Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fans, celebrating wins, mourning losses, and enjoying the shared tradition of game days. They also connected over favorite shows like Justified and The Wire, finding joy and conversation in their shared taste for smart, compelling television.
He is survived by his son, Brian, his daughter-in-law, Juan, and his treasured grandchildren, Lizzy and Alex. He was a devoted husband, a steadfast and supportive father, and a deeply loving grandfather. His quiet guidance, humility, and unwavering sense of responsibility made him a pillar to those around him.
A joint memorial service to celebrate the lives of Carl and Kathy Kehoe will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, where Carl and Kathy found lasting faith, community, and comfort for many years.
