Gerald Anthony Thomas Sr, 81, gained his wings on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was born on October 6th, 1942 in Washington DC. He graduated from Dunbar High School and proudly served in the army for 8 years, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to his country. He dedicated many years of his life as a bus driver for Fluvanna County Schools. Additionally, him and his wife Mrs. Sandra Thomas owned and ran a daycare center called Thomas & Thomas daycare center, where they touched the lives of many children.
Outside of work, Gerald Thomas Sr had a variety of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed bowling, watching law & order, cooking, and spending time on yard work. He had a special love for lights, classic old cars and muscle cars. Gerald Thomas Sr was an active member of his church and served as a Deacon for many years demonstrating his deep faith and commitment.
Gerald Sr was married to his beautiful wife Sandra Thomas for 61 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. They shared a lifetime of memories and built a strong and loving family together
Gerald Sr was also known for his deep love and affection for his pets, Friday and Midnight. He cherished them dearly and they brought him great joy and companionship.
Above all, Gerald Thomas Sr was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend cherishing his love ones above all else. He had a passion for singing and listening to oldies but goodies, bringing joy to those around him. His infectious smile and ability to brighten any room will be deeply missed.
Gerald Sr was preceded in death by his parents Novella “Frye” Taylor, George Edward Thomas; His siblings James Taylor, Cynthia Mckinny and Novella Taylor; His son Gerald Thomas Jr.
Gerald Sr, is survived in death by his children: Ophelia and Darin Sr; His siblings Robert Taylor Sr (Deborah), Paulette Stewart, Diane Mackal, Juanita Workman, Celestine Taylor, Celeste Taylor; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren,3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at ParkView Baptist church, 7900 Oxman Road, Landover, MD 20785, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 PM. Interment is to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
