Hi Día:
It is indeed a very sad time, especially to be communicating with you at this time, having missed many opportunities to chat with you and your mom. Thank you for speaking with us earlier today. Your strength was felt in your voice, and we know for sure that your mom has left you very well prepared to continue without her physically being by your side.
Dia, our deepest condolences to you and your family. We will always keep you all in our prayers. Always keep GOD first. HE will continue to comfort, strengthen, and guide you through your challenges ahead.
Moving forward may not be easy but continue to call on GOD and he will direct your path. Your mom would want you to remain strong and find joy in the memories she left behind. May GOD keep you and your family in the palm of his hands and cover you in his unending tender love.
Love and Best wishes

OMG, this is sad sad sad :(
I always thought I was very close to my mom till I met Dia at UMass. Her and her mom are practically twins. No mother and daughter are closer. Not only do they look alike but they share everything. Dia would tell her mom everything, I mean everything and anything. We, Dia’s UMass friends got a chance to hang out with Dia’s mom on many occasions. And she was always so sweet and nice. This news breaks my heart. It’s just too soon. Dia’s beautiful mom is too young :(
Dia’s mom is a nice and gentle soul, basically devoted her life to taking care of her precious child, Dia. May she Rest In Peace.
Dia, i don’t know what to say. John and I wish you comfort. May you be comforted by all the amazing memories you made with your mom all these years. We wish you and Phil and Anisa and Mariah comfort. We are here for you, if there is anything we can do, please let us know.
It is a sad sad day :(

Dia,
I still remember meeting you, your mom and your dad in that small office at Metco before our high school freshman year. Man I was nervous and shy as you were too. Your mom had the warmest smile and calming presence, that I instantly gravitated to your family & knew we would be friends forever.
Years after, your mom continued to always made me feel like a second daughter and provide an ear or shoulder to cry on. Back in the day she would blast music with us and dance. I can still hear her distinctive laugh when we really got her good and she couldn't keep a straight face. She was everyone's mom and friend, so my heart aches for you, as your relationship with her was unlike no other. I remember other times when we were difficult as teenagers and she was firm but also fair and fun.
She is you and you are her. Her beauty, humor, kindness and grit will shine through you even in her death, because of your bond.
I send my deepest sympathy to you, Phil and the girls.
We send hugs and support always,
Tiffany, Alex and Zoe

Dia, since the first day we met in college, I have known your Mom to be your best friend, your sidekick, your closest confidant. I was so impressed by the wonderful relationship you both shared, and continued to, over the years.
I do agree with one of the earlier writers when I remember your wedding day. Your mom, not one for many words, watched you quietly with immense pride. One could tell that she was so happy for you and Phil. I wasn’t there to witness the birth of your daughter, but I can imagine how much joy she must have felt. You were her world.
When you messaged about her sudden illness two weeks ago, I refused to believe it would be anything close to the end and trusted for a miracle. Perhaps in due time all of this would make sense, God knows best.
Ms Hodge has left a beautiful legacy behind in you and your family, Dia. One I am sure she is proud of. And I know she carries you along in her heart as you all forever will. You will miss her terribly - her laughter, her gentle support, her wisdom - but know that she is always with you. I pray that the wonderful memories you’ve shared will bring much solace to you during the difficult times.
Thank you, Ms Hodge, for being another mother to all of us, Dia’s friends, while in college and beyond. You remained in our lives and kept up with all our activities/journey into adulthood. We will miss your gentle warmth and presence and pray that you find eternal rest and warmth in the bosom of your loving Savior.
Love you Dia, Phil and the children.
