Joyce Brazie Davis Ciarrocchi (81) passed away on February 3, 2017 at Kris Leigh Assisted Living Home in Severna Park Maryland. She was born on June 3, 1935 in New York City to Oscar King Davis and Helen Brazie Davis.
Joyce grew up in Binghamton, New York and graduated from Binghamton Central High School in 1953. After high school she attended Elmira College in New York, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. in History and a Minor in Political Science and Economics. After college she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked at the National Archives from 1957 to 1964. Joyce married Raymond F. Ciarrocchi on May 7, 1960 and they were happily married for 56 years.
She was a very active member of the Prince George’s Lawyer Wives club and the Bowie Elks Lodge, becoming President of the Ladies of the Elks in 1997. She enjoyed volunteering at the Elks Club, and she also enjoyed her time volunteering at the Kenilworth Elementary School library.
Joyce had a passion for traveling the world; her favorite spots included the Panama Canal, Yellowstone National Park, Vancouver, British Columbia, Alaska, Ireland, Perkaise, Holland, England, and just about anywhere in the U.S. Her several hobbies included bowling, swimming and visiting Bethany Beach with her children and grandchildren. She looked forward to laying on the beach and enjoying a big family crab feast each summer.
She is survived by her husband Raymond, her three children Stephen (Grace) Ciarrocchi, Jennifer (Patrick) Kelly, and Mark (Carolyn) Ciarrocchi, and her loving grandchildren Tommy, Andy, Owen, Tara, Elizabeth, Isabella, and Gabe.
A funeral service will be held at the Chapel at Sacred Heart Church in Bowie Maryland on Monday February 13th at 11am with a wake service immediately prior and graveside service and reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce requested donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
A special quote from Joyce: “When I graduated with a history degree from college, everyone asked me if I would teach and I said “no way”. I knew I wanted to get married and raise my children. I achieved my ambition and I had a very happy life. I loved my husband, three children and my grandchildren.”
Arrangements under the direction of Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, Bowie, MD.
