OBITUARY

Pearl Ola Scott

5 July, 1952 – 13 February, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

Robert E. Evans Funeral Home

Pearl Ola Scott, 68, of Greenbelt, MD passed away on Feb 13, 2021.

Pearl was born on July 5, 1952 in Chicago IL and was the youngest of two children. She was raised in the city and it was a part of her even unto her last breath.

Pearl was a lifelong scholar and had an insatiable desire for knowledge. She could discuss topics from religion to racism and did so with alarming alacrity. Pearl was also an accomplished poet and has had several works published over the years on topics as varied as addiction, family, life on the streets, and love of her fellow man. She loved reading and travel because both quenched her desire to experience new places and new things. Pearl's love of good food and good company was a constant theme throughout her days. She relished the opportunity to spend time with friends and family and celebrate life. A veritable legion of friends, family, and friends who became family will mourn her loss.

Pearl was preceded in death by her brother, Michael, her mother, Daisy, her grandson Michael, and her grandmother, Ivory. She is survived by her children Angela and Michael and their children Michael, Avrielle, Darius, Jaylin, and Lydia.

She will be buried in a small, intimate ceremony in Maryland with little fanfare; which is how she would have wanted things.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that you make donations in her name to Inspiring More Minds; a charity that touched the lives of several members of her immediate family. https://inspiringmoreminds.com/

"...You would know the secret of death. But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?

The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.

If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.

For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one..." Khalil Gibran
