Obituary of Raymond "Mickey" L. McCutchen, Jr.
Raymond (Mickey) L. McCutchen Jr of Centreville, MD was born in Washington DC on August 04, 1941, to Alise and Ray McCutchen Sr. Mickey, 81, died peacefully December 3, 2022, with his family by his side in Annapolis, MD. He spent his time growing up in Riverdale MD with his two sisters Lynn and Lila. With their strong Christian upbringing, the family spent lots of time at Riverdale Baptist Church where one evening he met his future bride, Betty, the two were married a year later. Mickey started as a Carpenter and then went on to work for the C&P Telephone Company where he and Betty retired after 38 years of service, to their dream home in Florida. Mickey enjoyed being around his family and didn’t need a reason to visit, but birthdays, holidays and vacations were always special. He loved the outdoors, whether it was boating, beaching, or lounging by his pool, you would always find him enjoying the fresh air and sun, rather than sitting in the house. In later years and during retirement he took up golf and loved to play. He always had a passion for carpentry and working with wood. Over the years and throughout their many homes, he finished basements and family rooms, sunrooms, decks and sheds, always looking forward to the next project. During one period of his life, he made beautiful clocks that his family still enjoys hearing the ringing of chimes today. Mickey and Betty, along with their friends, traveled often and loved visiting the many islands’ warm beaches, but he often said his best trips were cruising through Alaska seeing the scenery, the whales and everything along the way. He always stayed involved with the communities where he lived and recently at the community clubhouse, found a new group of friends to play pool with several mornings each week. Mickey was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Betty, to whom he was married to for over 60 years. He was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and father-in-law. Together they are survived by their three children Ray McCutchen (Pam McCutchen) of Mechanicsville, MD, Deb Lenchner (Jim Lenchner) of Queen Anne, MD and Karen Thomas (Tim Hagan) of Hampton, NJ. Grandchildren: Kristin Ballard (Evan Ballard), Ashley McCutchen, Lindsey McCutchen, Katie McCutchen, Danny Lenchner and Courtney Thomas. Great Grandchild: Teagan Ballard Friends and Family are invited to a visitation for Mickey on Tuesday December 13, 2022 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Robert E.
