Walter N. Smith (Age 78): Passed away after a short battle with cancer while at the Mandarin Chesapeake Hospice House on November 2, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary A. Smith; and a daughter, Janet L. Smith. He is also survived by granddaughter Shannon St. John and her family, Joe Lewis, Emily Lockwood and Hailey St. John. Additional survivors include two younger brothers, Jimmy Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jack Smith of Laurel, MD; as well as nieces, nephews and a host of friends. On Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11 am, a brief memorial service will be held at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
