

.Father William Paul Hill, a devoted Roman Catholic priest whose life was marked by unwavering faith, humble service, and deep compassion, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on April 15th, 2026 at Marian Assisted Living in Brookeville, MD.
Born on April 9, 1938, in Washington, DC, Father Hill grew up in a close-knit Catholic family where faith was central to daily life. From a young age, he felt a calling to the priesthood, a vocation he would faithfully pursue throughout his life. He attended Mount Calvary School in District Heights, MD, and graduated on June 19, 1956 from Gonzaga High School in Washington DC. He attended St. Charles College in Catonsville, MD before entering St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. He was ordained a priest on May 23, 1964 at St. Matthew”s Cathedral in Washington DC and celebrated his first Solemn Mass at St. Philip’s the Apostle Church in Camp Springs MD. For over six decades, Father Hill served in numerous parishes across the diocese of Washington DC. Holy Redeemer Kensington MD, Saint Mary’s Lanham MD, Saint John Vianney Prince Frederick MD, Saint Francis Xavier Washington DC, Saint Pius X Bowie MD and Saint Nicholas Laurel MD. He dedicated his life to the service of Christ and His Church, family and parishioners. Known for his gentle demeanor and thoughtful homilies, he had a gift for making the teachings of the Church both accessible and meaningful to those he served. He enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles on TV, holidays with his big family and was very devoted to taking care of his mother and little sister Pamela. He cherished his vocation, but equally treasured the memories made traveling to many places in the world alongside his dear circle of lifelong priest friends, bringing those experiences and spirit to his ministry and his friendships alike.
Father Hill is preceded in death by his parents William Roscoe Hill and Mary Agnes (Ferry) Hill, siblings Patricia Ann (Holson) Hill, Rosemary (Pinki) Agnes Hill and Pamela Marie Teresa Hill. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Viewing, Vigil Mass and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church 14720 Annapolis Road Bowie, MD 20715
