Barbara Reichert

Born in Trappe, PA she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Ellen R. (Cameron) Detwiler.

Barbara was a 1956 graduate of Boyertown High School, a 1960 graduate of Kutztown State College with a degree in elementary education and received continuing education at the Temple University program.

She was a first grade teacher at Boyertown School District for three years, then a substitute teacher for the Boyertown, Daniel Boone and the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit for seventeen years. Barbara then taught at. St. Joseph’s (Hill) Lutheran Church Day Care Center for seven years; where she was also a member. Barbara was a thirty year chair person of the Christian Education Committee.

Surviving with her husband Carl B., are two daughters, Diane B., wife of Thomas A. Rose and Jennifer E. Blair both of Oley; two sons, Carl B., Jr., husband of Carol L. Reichert of Gilbertsville and David S., husband of Beth L. Reichert of Oley; a brother, Theodore J., husband of Linda Detwiler of Sassamansville and nine grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister, Phyllis D. Conrad died January 7, 2008.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m.; Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the St. Joseph’s (Hill) Lutheran Church, 244 Koch Road, Boyertown, The Reverend Jeffrey Odgren will officiate.

A viewing will be Friday, October 21, 2011 between 7 – 9 p.m. at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc, 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. And Saturday, October 22, 2011 between 9:30 – 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery, Pike Township, Berks County, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Joseph’s Hill Lutheran Church Playground Project, 244 Koch Road, Boyertown, PA 19512.
