

Born in Bridgewater, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Murray) and Edgar E. Cushman.
During WWII Dot served in the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) and received the WASP Congressional Gold Medal for her military service. Following the war, she relocated to Maine where she met her husband, Lawrence “Ike” McCracken, a former Navy pilot. Married in 1948, Ike was Dot’s wingman for over 60 years.
Dot is survived by a daughter, Joan M. Johnston of Pottstown, PA, wife of James Johnston; a son, L. Wayne McCracken of NC, husband of Sema Lederman; two sisters, Mildred Mayhew of Martha’s Vineyard, MA and Marjorie Anderson of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; four grandchildren: Lindsey McCracken, Travis McCracken, Jenna Johnston and Jared Johnston; and three great-grandchildren.
Services are private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Angel Flight, 1501 Narcissa Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
