Glenda was born February 2, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Sol R. McPherson and Bertha McPherson. She was the eldest of four children from this marriage. She was educated in the Philadelphia, PA public school system. After graduation she attended the Vera Gunn Modeling and Charm School where she began a brief career in modeling. She later entered the health care field as a Radiologist and after 37 years she retired from the work she loved. Glenda met and married the late Clyde Bussey and through this union she had her first son Clyde “Dinky” Bussey. After the end of this marriage she later married Solomon J. Baston, Jr, and through this union she had her second son Solomon Baston, III, who died at birth. Shortly afterwards she conceived again and had a third son Solomon Baston, IV.
Glenda was a spirited, loving and giving person who so enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She loved to travel and lived in various states –New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Las Vegas, Nevada until she settled down in the Philadelphia area. Glenda will be especially remembered for her love of God as her personal savior, church, gospel music, the theater, amusement parks, and her work with children and youth- particularly young girls. But her legacy among her grandchildren and family will always be “She was a Free Spirit, Loved Life, and the Fun Grandmother and Sister”.
Glenda was preceded in death by Solomon Baston, III (son), Sol R. McPherson (father), Cheryl Saunders (sister), Henry Rayborn (brother), and her favorite aunt Louise Hinton. Glenda leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Bertha McPherson-Rayborn, her sons: Clyde Bussey and Solomon Baston, IV, her brothers: Sol “Ricky” McPherson, Jr,, Mario McPherson, and Henri “Manny”Rayborn, her sister: Shirley Moton, her seven grandchildren: Kaelah Bussey, Kareem Bussey, Kamil Bussey, Keyshawn Baston, Alaya Baston, Alana Baston, and Elijah Baston, dear friend and companion: David Dunnaville, many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Glenda will be missed.
Lovingly submitted,
