To Linda, Bob, Dottie, Todd, Allyson, Angie, Michelle, Mike, Chelsea, Lucille, Kermit, and all of the other Stapleton family members,
I have many, many fond memories of Leon that span over 30 years.  Because he knew my grandfather, my grandfather's brothers, and other Brumbach relation, I always enjoyed him talking about them, so I would be able to learn more of my heritage.   Leon also gave me many details about his WWII experiences, in the CBI Theatre, which I really enjoyed hearing, especially because of my interest with veterans of that war.
Leon loved to go to Lancaster County to get fresh vegetables and on many occasions, he picked up tomatoes and strawberries for me and others.  However, his love of oysters could not be surpassed!  I'll never forget several years ago that he asked me to pick up some shucked oysters, when I was in Chincoteague, VA.  I asked him how many pints of oysters he wanted and he said three (3) gallons, not pints.  I had to ask him a second time about that and he again said 3 gallons.  I couldn't believe it, but that's what he ended up with, so he could share them with many of you.
Although Leon was 30 years older than me and we conducted a lot of business together, over those years, I always considered him as a friend.  I am truly, truly upset and very disappointed that I can't be in attendance at his viewing or funeral tonight and tomorrow, but please know that he, as well as all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sad to hear of Leon's passing. I met him three years ago and found out his father and my Grandmother were brother and sister. My Grandmother died long before I was born and we had lost contact with the Stapelton side of the family Annie Stapelton married my Grandfather Eli Griesemer.  Robert D Smith
