Mr. Ronald G. Shafer

Ronald G. Shafer, 81, husband of the late Carol R. (Burke) Shafer of Bechtelsville went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 27, 2012 in the Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last week.

Born in Fairmont, West Virginia he was a son of the late Inez (Jackson) and Harold G. Shafer.

Ronald was employed as a plumber in Las Vegas for 9 years. Also with his brother, George, he was co-owner and operator of S&S Rebar and Shafer Antiques for 31 years retiring in 2000.

He served in the US Navy in the Submarine Service.

He was a member of Colebrookdale Chapel, Boyertown. A past member of the Boyertown School Board and a past President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

Surviving are, a daughter Ronda R. wife of David R. Schutt of Barto. Granddaughters, Jennifer wife of Rufus Harvey of Boyertown and Krista wife of Jason Meister of Barto. Brothers, Bill Shafer of Willits, CA. and George Shafer of Tucson, AZ. Ronald is also survived by 5 great grandchildren; is also survived by his longtime trusted friend, Diane Selwood, and is predeceased by his brother Jack Shafer.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Colebrookdale Chapel 2108 Farmington Ave. Boyertown, PA. 19512. Reverend Louis Dubost, Jr. will officiate.

Friends may call Tuesday morning between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. at the Church.

Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Colebrookdale Chapel, 2108 Farmington Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512.
