Born in Pottstown, PA. She was a daughter of the late Philomena Mary (Volpe) Burns and Thomas Lochner Burns Sr.
She was a 1956 graduate of Boyertown Area High School, and the Hiram G. Andrews Center where she learned a trade in dressmaking. She worked for over 40 years at Osan’s Manufacturing as a fitter.
Shirley was a member of St. Columbkill’s R. C. Church, 200 Indian Spring Rd. Boyertown, Pa 19512.
She attended The Center at Spring Street and Saint Columbkill Senior Group. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire, Keystone Fire, Earl Township Fire, and New Berlinville Fire Companies.
Shirley loved sewing and crafting. She often created and donated holiday items and gifts to her groups. She also sewed lap blankets to donate to those in need at Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
Shirley is survived by her son Michael J. husband of Brenda E. (Hetrick) Burns of Boyertown. Grandchildren, Samantha L. Burns of Boyertown and Justin M. Burns husband of Courtney Crump of Boyertown. Grand kittens, Tiggi and Kleo. Grand dog, Charlotte. She is also predeceased by her brother Thomas L. Burns Jr.
She loved the bright colors of nature, so the immediate family requests all family and friends coming to the service to dress vibrantly to celebrate her life as she lived it.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Columbkill’s R. C. Church, Boyertown on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 9:45 AM.
Interment will be in Limerick Garden of Memories. Limerick, PA.
