Born in Jersey City, NJ, Rick was the son of the late George and Evelyn Rickard. He graduated from Lyndhurst High School and later earned a master’s degree from Montclair State College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army before dedicating his career to law enforcement. Rick rose to the rank of deputy chief of the Bergen County Police Department in New Jersey, where he played a vital role in the scuba and hostage negotiating teams.
Beyond his distinguished career, Rick found great joy in golfing, especially when sharing the game, and a drink, with his dear friend Bobby Meyer. He also enjoyed spending time with his niece Linda Bode.
He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Cottone and Stacy Carabetta (Michael); his grandchildren, Lianna Markell, Nicole Carabetta, Catherine Adimando (Stephen), and Samantha Carabetta; as well as many friends and loved ones. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Fleming.
A celebration of life for Rick will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s in Rick’s honor.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
