

Born on January 4, 1936, in Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa-ken, Japan, to Kinsaburo and Haru Mokudai, Her life was marked by simple joys and the enduring bonds of family. She was married to Henry Howard Perry from 1954 until his passing in 2010.
Matsuko is survived by her children Donald (Vicki) Perry, James (Diane) Perry, Joyce (Butch) Lee, Larry (Candy) Perry, and Guy (Laurie) Perry, as well as her siblings Fuji, Toshio, Kunio, Saburo, and Masae. Her legacy also lives on through her 13 grandchildren: Christina, Tuesday, Marilyn, Tonia, Junior, Henry, Brandon, Johnny, Angie, John, Justin, Alex, and Julia, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, who all brought her immense pride and joy.
Matsuko was preceded in death by her husband Henry, granddaughter Amie Garver, grandson Kevin “Buddy” Browning, sister Kazuko, and her parents.
Matsuko found pleasure in the simple activities of crocheting, quilting, gardening, and cooking. She cherished her trips back to Japan, connecting her family to their heritage. She also loved playing bingo with her friends.
Visitation is at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston, AL on February 8, 2025, beginning at 10:45a followed by a graveside service at ForestLawn Gardens in Anniston, AL at 12pm, where those who knew and loved her are invited to remember her life and contributions.
Matsuko had a kind and gentle spirit while displaying quiet strength, determination, dedication, and love. She will be deeply missed yet continues to inspire all who knew her.
