It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the De Guzman family announce the peaceful/sudden passing of Alex De Guzman at the age of 50, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Alex was a talented hairstylist who lived in and thrived within the Brampton community. There, he proudly owned and operated his own salon, Headquarters for over 20 years. His dedication to his craft and his clients went far beyond hairstyling — he created a welcoming space filled with laughter, comfort, and care. Loved by his clients and respected by his peers, Alex built lasting relationships that extended well beyond the salon chair. His artistry, professionalism, and gentle spirit were truly one of a kind.
Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Alex had an incredible ability to make others laugh and always looked at the bright side of life. He lived by the motto “Family over everything” and was a devoted husband of 24 years to the late Cathy De Guzman (nee Cordeiro). Alex’s greatest joy in life was his children, Mateo, Isabella, and Christian, who were the center of his world and took immense pride in their accomplishments and found happiness in every moment spent with them.
Alex will be lovingly remembered by his children, his sisters Grace (Mike) and Reena (Blair), his mother-in-law Gloria, his sisters-in-law Nancy and Jessica (Anthony), his nieces and nephews, his extended family, friends, and the many clients who became like family over the years. To Alex, family wasn’t just blood, but a community of loved ones who held a special place in his heart.
We take comfort in knowing that Alex has reunited with his beloved wife, Cathy; his mother, Erlinda; his father, Rufino and father-in-law, Anibal in eternal rest.
He will always be remembered for his laughter, generosity, kindness, and the unwavering positivity he carried through life. Alex faced his illness with remarkable strength, continuing to inspire his loved ones with his courage and light.
Though his time with us was far too short, Alex’s love, humor, and spirit will live on in the hearts of his children, family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
