The passing of Amelia at her home on October 29, 2026, is a great loss to her beloved husband Leopoldo, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage and to her loving daughters Rosemarie 'Mini' and Barbara (Sander)
Amelia was born in San Miguel, Bulacan, Philippines, to her loving parents, Dr. Manuel Viola and Maura Vergel de Dios Santiago. She had six siblings: Beatriz, Dr. Manuel Jr., Lucila, Gregorio, George, and Marina
Faith was a very important part of Amelia’s journey. She was a member of the Lay Carmelite Order for 30 years and the Catholic Women’s League for 20 years. She sang in the St. Mary's choir and Resurrection choir. She was also a member of the Brampton Cardinal choir, singing for the residents at various homes for the elderly. She attended bible study with Fr Scott at St Mary's and with Fr Domenic at St Anne's. She was a regular volunteer at St. Mary's and was in charge of the vestments, tabernacle and alter linens.
Some of her fondest memories were of the annual family reunions in Manila and Bulacan. She earned a degree in Nutrition and was proud to have worked at the Philippines General hospital Diabetic clinic.
She found happiness in gardening, baking, reading Agatha Christie, lap swimming, knitting, and crocheting. She loved gifting her crocheted creations to family and friends and donating them to William Osler Oncology ward and to the St Mary's Christmas bazaar. She enjoyed cultivating indoor plants for the CWL bazaar.
Through her volunteer work at St Mary's, she made numerous lifelong friends, especially the St Mary's ladies, who were very dear to her heart.
Though her journey here has come to an end, the memories she created will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Amelia. Your love, kindness, and beautiful memories will forever remain in our lives.
